Film: D'Ierzenzopp ass gutt (Resistance during World War II)

Gregoire Colling

August 1943. After their plane was severely damaged by anti-aircraft fire and German Luftwaffe fighters, the American crew had to abandon their bomber and parachute over enemy territory. Of the 10 crew members, two managed to reach Mersch (LUX) after a perilous journey through Nazi Germany. There, they found help from the local LVL resistance group.

Three months later, the BBC broadcast the message “D’Ierzenzopp ass gutt.” This coded message confirmed that the two American airmen had safely returned behind friendly lines—a masterpiece of the Mersch resistance group (LUX).

But what happened to the members afterward? This film shines a light on their fate and courage…
